Banana pops

A really quick and easy tea time (or any time) idea that helps you to get rid (other than throwing it away) of  over ripe bananas and filling your tummy at the same time. Back home, we called these Jemput jemput pisang.

  • Over ripe/ fresh bananas
  • 2-3 tbs sugar
  • 3-4 tbs flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of baking powder
  • A pot of oil

  • Heat the pot of oil on medium.
  • Mash the banana and sugar. Mix well.
  • Add flour, salt & baking powder. Mix well.

  • Using a teaspoon, scoop the batter and carefully drop it into the hot oil. Repeat.

Note: Don’t overcrowd the pot. Agitate the pops so that they won’t stick together.

The pops will start rising to the surface. Keep turning them over for even cooking.

Scoop them up when they are brown slightly. Use kitchen towels to soak excess oil.
